Making our way home

Wednesday April 29th
Last night was a little stormy.  We washed clothes and reorganized the boat.  We had been so hot in the exumas that we welcomed the cold front coming through even though it bought a lot of wind and rain.

Spanish Wells

Rey, Best ock master ever!

Thursday April 30th
We went to Jamie’s for breakfast.
We are preparing to leave as soon as a weather window opens.  The winds were up here in the Abacos.  The Gulf Stream also has a northern component, so we are here for a few days.  We stopped by Johnny and Rapeepan’s today to see if he has some paintings I could buy.  It was good to see both of them.  Rapeepan and I are Facebook friends.  She gave me some lettuce from her garden.  They are such sweet people.  We ate dinner at KFC.  Johnny told us about a chicken place down town to eat that was good.  I wished we had eaten there.

Friday May 1st
We were still looking for the weather window.  It looks like we are going to be able to leave on Monday.  So we planned to go to Nippers on Sunday.  Trying to get another lobster burger.  We ate at the golden grouper today.  Rey said it had the best hamburger in town.  They did!

Saturday May 2n
Went for another visit with my sweet friends Johnny and Rapeepan.  I visited so long that George came looking.  Today she gave me some tomatoes from her garden.  I am getting a little excited about going home.

Sunday
We got up and as usual we check the weather first thing.  The weather window for Wednesday’s crossing had closed so we decided to stay in Marsh Harbour and wait.
We went to Nippers on the ferry.  This time we did get a lobster burger.  The crowd was great.  We said goodbye to Guana.  We are a little deflated because we know we will have to wait a few more days before leaving for home.

Monday May 4th
Jack took us to grabber’s for George’s birthday. We had great service.  They gave George a free piece of cheesecake.  It was a good time.  We are looking now to leave Marsh Harbour on Thursday.  We have a good weather window on Saturday, Sunday and Monday. That is if the topical storm does not develop or if it moves north. We will leave here on Thursday go to Allen’s Cay, anchor there Thursday night, then to Great Sail on Friday night.  We will sleep late on Saturday and then leave for Fort Pierce Saturday at about 1:00.  That will put us in Ft. Pierce early Sunday morning.  We are keeping our eyes on the topical storm development.

Tuesday May 5th
It rained hard all day!  Very lazy day!

Wednesday May 6th
It was still raining when we woke up but cleared up.  We had a lot to do today.  George and Jack worked on Jacks boat.  You will find leaks in your boat when you don’t know you have them in a rain like yesterday.  We also had to get any last minute items form Maxwell’s, so another walk to the grocery store today.  I also had to wash again.  On the way to the grocery store we ate at the chicken place Johnny told us about.  It was cheap and a lot of good food.  We hope to leave in the morning and cross the whale.  The whale can be rough, but it was reported to be bumpy but safe tomorrow.  So say a few prayers for our travels. I will post again from Ft. Pierce.
